If you want a beautiful lawn, you also have to take care of its maintenance. There are a few rules that conjure up a dense, lush, green lawn.
- Mowing the Lawn – Don’t Be Too Short!
Maintenance begins in spring and sometimes it can be time consuming and stressful, professionals in the area of earth development can help give your lawn the required maintenance after the long winter, the lawn now needs strength to grow again. The first thing to do for the sake of your lawn is to rake away the last of the leaves and mow the lawn for the first time of the year. But not too much should be cut away now. The longer the blades of grass, the more photosynthesis takes place, and the lawn is greener. It also stimulates root growth – the grasses have deeper roots and are more resistant to drought. Minerals are also better absorbed by longer roots. The perfect height for the lawn in the garden is three to five centimeters. It is better to mow once more than too short.
- A Beautiful Lawn Needs Good Soil
Acidic soil has to be limed So that the lawn grows well and densely. It needs nutrients. In April, the time has come for the first fertilization. Before doing this, you should ideally find out whether the soil is too acidic and needs to be limed. The pH of healthy soil should be 6.0 to 6.5. If it’s below 5.5, it’s time to lime the floor.
Fertilize only from April. The grass needs additional fertilizer in the growth phase. The best time to fertilize your lawn is April to May, the end of June, and the last time in August.
- Moss in The Lawn – Only Destruction and Scarifying Will Help Here
It’s soft, green, robust, and a thorn in the side of all lawn owners: moss. With moss killers, you can first prevent the symptoms; the cause must be treated later. In the garden market, you can buy moss destroyers, which mainly contain the active ingredient iron-II-sulfate or which are supposed to destroy the moss based on acetic acid. While iron (II) sulfate works best in damp weather, it should be as dry as possible when using acetic acid products.
You must also be careful with agents containing iron (II) sulfate, as it causes rust stains on stones. If you use the moss shredder and fertilizer, you strengthen the grass plants directly and prepare the lawn for further treatment. The moss dies within ten days and can then be torn out with a scarifier after mowing; It is best to drive the scarifier once lengthways and once across so that all dead fibers and roots are captured.
When scarifying, make sure that the lawn is parched. The lawn should be mowed as deep as possible beforehand. If a well-tended and unproblematic lawn is scarified, it is sufficient to scarify only in one direction. If the lawn has not been treated for several years, it should be scarified in the longitudinal and transverse strips, as is the case with moss removal. Immediately afterward, a new lawn is sown. If it is warm and dry, the lawn should be watered after scarifying. Then he needs a few weeks of rest to recover.
